In a word.. Friendly. We were made feel very much at home and welcomed by the staff which made the whole experience wonderful. We stayed with 3 kids and had the "penthouse suite" which is a bit of an oversell but is was spacious with 2 rooms and fun, with a view and we liked it.

Water pressure is not reliable but if you have some patience it comes back....

We had great views of the water though I don't think our thoughts of the hotel would have been as positive had we been in a room overlooking the road

The staff were very friendly, engaging and helpful.

When issues were raised they were accepted, but often not dealt with. Many issues had to be raised a number of times, toilet not working, safe not working, door handles falling off. But the staff were so nice, it was hard to be upset. Sheets were too small for the double beds.

Nice hotel with friendly staff. The location is perfect, and you can reach the blue mosque, Aya Sofia, Topkapi palace and the market in just 10 minutes walk. The wireless worked all the time. A good thing that breakfast was available at least untill 10.45.

Great location, walk to everything in Sultanhamet. Great access to ferries and Galata bridge. Very helpfull staff.

It was a nice hotle in very good place near to all transportation facilities. the staff was cooperative & smilely.i feel safe during my period of time their and i hope to come again.

The location, withing walking distance of the ferry and all the main sites, was very good. Views of the sea and the old station from our rooms. Easy to find, reasonable breakfast, clean and staff were helpful. Make sure to ask for deluxe rooms to get the view. Fair value for an old hotel with some character.

Nothing - fine for us. Just be aware that if you are very picky about little things this is not a five star luxury hotel.

Well located, near the tram stations and the train station, more or less near all center places of Istanbul. The road was being under reparations when we stayed, so one of the nights we had to spend in another hotel (arranged by them internally), which was worse than this one. This was a bad thing: I would have expected to get something of the same quality or better, but was worse.

The staff was helpful 24/7 and breakfast was lovely. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. We had a wonderful stay at the Historical Preferred Hotel.

Good & safe location for seeing Istanbul's Old City. Very convenient to Tram line and walking distance to all major sites of interest.

The hotel needs major improvements in these areas - carpets, plumbing, bathroom doors, fixtures, furniture, Internet access. The staff are helpful if you know what you want (e.g., a good Turkish bath). They, however, don't have knowledge or tools (e.g., Internet) to direct you to lessor known destinations.

The management and staff were excellent in that they tried their utmost to make your stay as pleasant and as comfortable as possible and very helpful at all times.

The first room we stay in we found the bathroom toilet facilities to be tiny and very uncomfortable to use-we were moved to a better room although it did not have the sea view that we had booked it was more comfortable.

The only positive experience about this hotel was the location. It is walking distance from all main attractions.

Its not worth the money. Very poor standards. Didnt have a toilet door, rooms dirty and very dusty. And breakfast was served practically in the breakfast area, which was not worth waking up for. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

This is third small Sultanahmet Hotel we've stayed in for a few days. We are a retired couple traveling with our adult daughter in their 30s, and both generations liked this Hotel a lot. The best part was the location-- very quiet (noise can be a serious problem in Sultanahmet), close to everything, especially every kind of public transport, including ferries. Yet the area was much less touristy: very few offensive touts trying to entice us into their various shops. The neighborhood is, of course, part of a bustling, lively (and somewhat gritty) commercial area. But it is about 6 minutes to the serenity of Gulhane Park, with its huge graceful gardens, open lawns, and park benches. The lobby and the room were clean, sizeable, and everything worked--even the intenet. Do ask for a room with a window toward the bosporous,. This is not a luxury hotel, but for two stars, I thought the facilities were fine. And the service was the best we've had--polite, charming, English-speaking, and helpful, with no surprises when the bills came.

I'd say the only disappointment was mild: it was the breakfast. We've gotten used to small Istanbul hotels with breakfasts on a sunny balcony. This hotel serves breakfast in a somewhat funky ground-level room--less light and with the T.V. on The breakfast area was clean and pleasant, with a window out toward the Bosporous. But the food was mediocre by Turkish standards--not so fresh, not so hot, not such high quality in cheese and olives. And if you're a serious coffee person--and I don't mean Nescafe, you'll learn to drink chai or head to Starbucks after breakfast. (Note: That's not an complaint about the hotel, actually: why should a Turkish hotel be expected to serve American coffee at breakfast when chai (cay) is the cultural norm? We can get our coffee fix when we return to Peoria--or wherever.)

Staff were brilliant especially Izzit (hope I've spelt his name right!). Location was good as it was close to Topkapi palace, the metro line and the train station.

Breakfast was a bit hit and miss and the lift to take you up to your room isn't the safest!

The location is good, a few hundreds meters to Topkapi and Ayasofia. The staff is friendly, the hotel lobby is nice and cosy. The rooms' doors are nice painted on the outside.

The room was awful: very small, cheap materials, inclined floor, no carpet on the floor.
